Dry, mossy and earthy, with a powdery, leathery depth – like oakmoss on old wood.
- Since 2021, cosmetics in the EU may no longer contain atranol and chloroatranol – allergens from real oakmoss. Evernyl contains neither, keeping the classic chypre scent alive.
Chemically, Evernyl is methyl 2,4-dihydroxy-3,6-dimethylbenzoate (C₁₀H₁₂O₄), also known as methyl atrarate. It was developed by Roure Bertrand Dupont as a substitute for the mossy character of oakmoss.
