Questions and answers
Creamy, soft and milky-woody, with a warm, slightly sweet depth.
- Sandalwood is a hemiparasite: the tree taps into the roots of neighbouring plants with its own roots – without a host it barely thrives.
The oil is steam-distilled from the heartwood and consists of more than 90 percent sesquiterpene alcohols, mainly α- and β-santalol. β-Santalol carries the typical creamy sandalwood scent.
