Questions and answers
Earthy, woody and dark, with a damp, slightly sweet forest-floor character.
- Patchouli belongs to the mint family – and around 80 to 90 % of the world’s patchouli oil comes from Indonesia.
It is distilled from dried leaves; its key molecule, patchoulol (C₁₅H₂₆O), makes up roughly a quarter to two thirds of the oil, depending on origin and harvest time.
