Marzocco, Roberto Ugolini

The Marzocco , the noble heraldic animal and emblem of Florence, holds a shield bearing the Florentine lily in its paw. Donatello's famous sculpture from 1420 is now housed in the Museo del Bargello, while a copy can be seen in the Piazza della Signoria in front of the Palazzo Vecchio.
