What is topaz?

With a hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale, topaz is one of the most resilient gemstones and accompanies you effortlessly through everyday life. Its name probably goes back to Topazios, an island in the Red Sea. London Blue is the deepest, ink-blue shade of topaz – a blue that appears almost black or velvety and luminous, depending on the light.
