The Ultimate Card Case from SECRID: Neat, Stylish and Always to Hand
A wallet that clicks – and fans your cards out for you. Anyone who has held a Secrid understands straight away why this little aluminium case from the Netherlands has fans all over the world. Neat, stylish and always within reach: that is exactly how we like things at 4D OUTFITTERS.
- The heart of every Secrid is the Cardprotector: an aluminium case that protects cards from bending, breaking and unwanted contactless reading.
- A small slider at the bottom pushes the cards out in a staggered fan – you grab the right one instantly.
- At 4D OUTFITTERS we only carry the Premium line with “+”, which also takes metal cards.
- Secrid has been a certified B Corp since 2021 and has its wallets assembled in sheltered workshops in the Netherlands.
Why your cards need protection
Debit cards, credit cards, ID cards: many of them now communicate contactlessly via RFID or NFC chips. That’s convenient – but in theory the technology can also be addressed unnoticed from a short distance. Secrid’s Cardprotector is encased in aluminium and shields your cards from unwanted wireless communication. At the same time, the sturdy case protects against what happens far more often in everyday life: bent and broken cards.
How the Cardprotector works
- Slide your cards into the Cardprotector – the new “+” generation holds them in place with a patented self-locking mechanism.
- Press the slider on the underside: the cards glide out in a staggered fan.
- Pull out the card you need, push the rest back – done.
Depending on the card type, the Cardprotector holds up to six flat or four embossed cards.
Secrid Premium wallets at 4D OUTFITTERS
We deliberately carry only the Premium line with “+” – fine leather sleeves around the new Cardprotector+, suitable for plastic and metal cards. These are the models you’ll find with us:
- Miniwallet+ – the classic: Cardprotector plus a leather sleeve with room for a few banknotes and receipts, fits any trouser pocket. For example the Miniwallet+ Basco or Miniwallet+ Emboss Lines.
- Slimwallet+ – even flatter, for anyone who hardly carries cash, e.g. the Slimwallet+ Basco.
- Twinwallet+ – two Cardprotectors in one sleeve, for example for personal and business cards: Twinwallet+ Dusk.
- Cardprotector+ Fluted for MagSafe – attaches magnetically to your iPhone: view product.
- Envelope Wallet+ – the version with an envelope flap: Envelope Wallet+ Naplak.
All Secrid wallets are made for women and men alike – the choice is more a question of leather, embossing and colour. Smooth, diamond-patterned or stitched: browse our Secrid collection.
More than a case: values made in the Netherlands
Secrid has been a certified B Corp since December 2021 – a label for companies that verifiably meet social and environmental standards. Production is mainly in the Netherlands: according to Secrid, most suppliers are within 150 kilometres, and assembly takes place in sheltered workshops the founders have worked with since the early 1990s. And because a good wallet should last, there are more than 1,500 repair points worldwide.
Curiosities about Secrid
What you probably didn’t know
- Assembled at the kitchen table
Founders René van Geer and Marianne van Sasse van Ysselt assembled the first 13,000 Cardprotectors at home – around the kitchen table, with family and friends.
- The idea is older than the smartphone
As early as 1995, the designer couple noticed that people were carrying more and more cards and less and less cash. Their forerunner was the “Bodycard”, a plastic sleeve against bent cards. The Cardprotector followed in 2009.
- Inspired by the iPhone
The pared-back design of the Cardprotector is said to have been inspired by the then-new iPhone – today there is even a MagSafe version that clips onto your phone.
- More than 50 improvements
According to Secrid, the unassuming mechanism hides more than fifty large and small improvements, backed by patent applications.
- 1% for designers
One per cent of revenue goes into Secrid’s own Impact Fund, which supports designers.
