Since 2026 the scent has also been available as Sun Bleached Extrait – and the question we hear most often since then is: does it simply smell the same, only louder? Why everyone compares these two
Clean fragrances that smell of fresh laundry and well-groomed skin are among the most sought-after scent styles of our time. Sun Bleached is a firm favourite in this category: on Fragrantica, 741 people have rated the Eau de Parfum, plus 82 detailed reviews. The comparison that comes up most often there: Byredo Blanche. Many find Sun Bleached rounder and sweeter – and prefer it for exactly that reason.
The Extrait is young and has nevertheless already collected 98 votes – with a noticeably higher average score than the original. Fragrantica editor Sandra Raičević Petrović fell for the scent at Paris Perfume Week 2026 and dedicated an article of its own to it.
What you smell
Sun Bleached: Muscat in the morning
The story of the original is set in Muscat, the capital of Oman, known as the “White City”. Une Nuit Nomade tells of walls that shine so brightly in the sun that you have to squint, and of men in long white robes. According to the brand, the scent opens like biting into an orange: bergamot, a touch of cardamom, and beneath it ambrette with its soft, musky skin feel. Then comes what everyone buys Sun Bleached for: a linen accord with white flowers, clean, powdery and bright. White musk and sandalwood round it off, and a trace of vanilla makes the whole thing softer than it sounds.
The feeling: a freshly made bed, a cotton shirt, sunglasses pushed up into your hair. A scent that never gets in anyone’s way.
Sun Bleached Extrait: the same sun, a different desert
For the Extrait the brand changes the setting: from Oman to the Egyptian desert and the sun god Ra. And you can smell it. Une Nuit Nomade itself says that simply raising the concentration is “an illusion”. The aim was more roundness and an even more radiant, “almost dazzling” whiteness. The citrus bite disappears. Instead, cardamom and ambrette butter open warm and velvety. In the heart, tuberose pushes through the linen, creamy and restrained. Vanilla and myrrh lay a resinous warmth underneath, like sand that has stored the heat of the day.
The feeling: a linen dress after a long day in the sun, warm shoulders, a hint of body lotion. More skin, less detergent.

What this means: without bergamot, the Extrait lacks the fresh kick. The original’s “white flowers” are given a name: tuberose. White musk and sandalwood disappear from the list, and the musky softness now comes mainly from the ambrette.

The honest answer first: if you are looking for exactly that airy, fresh Sun Bleached moment, the Eau de Parfum is the right choice. The Extrait is not “more of the same”, but a warmer, more floral interpretation.

What the community says: for the Eau de Parfum, many praise the genuine laundry effect and the comforting, uncomplicated feel. Criticism focuses on a closeness to soap or baby wipes and the rather short longevity. For the Extrait, fans rave about crisp linen with creamy tuberose and much more presence. Une Nuit Nomade: travelling in bottles
Paris, 2015. Philippe Solas and Alexandra Cubizolles found Une Nuit Nomade, “a nomadic night”. Neither came from classic perfumery; their backgrounds were in marketing, communications and the music industry. The idea: each collection tells the story of a place – Bali, Oman, Long Island, South Africa. The founders call it “olfactory nomadism”, travelling without a suitcase, right on your skin.
With the “Legends” extrait line, to which Sun Bleached Extrait belongs, the brand now also retells myths. Curiosities around Sun Bleached
White cities, sun boats and musk from seeds
- White needs no permit
In Muscat, the municipality also regulates the colour of buildings. White and its shades are the only colours that do not require approval from the authority. No wonder it is called the “White City”.
- Perfumed tassels
Une Nuit Nomade tells us that Omanis in Muscat wear long white robes whose small tassel is lightly perfumed. A scent that literally hangs by a thread.
- Six months on the lawn
Before bleach existed, laundry was laid out wet on the grass: lawn bleaching. Light and oxygen in the air formed peroxides that whitened the fabric. For linen this took up to six months. In Germany, household laundry was still bleached this way until the 1970s.
- Two boats and a serpent
According to myth, Ra, the god behind the Extrait, crossed the sky by day in the morning barque “Mandjet” and travelled through the underworld by night in the evening barque “Mesektet”. Every night the chaos serpent Apophis attacked him there. In the morning he appeared as the scarab Khepri, rolling the sun over the horizon.
- A pharaoh gardening
A relief from the mortuary temple of King Sahure shows him tending a myrrh tree in his palace garden – the only known Egyptian depiction of a king gardening. Sahure also sent the earliest attested expedition to the Land of Punt, which brought back large quantities of myrrh.
- Musk from seeds
Ambrette comes from the seeds of Abelmoschus moschatus, the musk mallow. “Moschatus” refers to its musky scent. Its oil was long the plant-based substitute for animal musk.
- Extrait de Parfum is the highest classic concentration level, above Eau de Parfum. Une Nuit Nomade does not state exactly how much perfume oil it contains.
- Linen is an accord, not a raw material. Perfumers build the “freshly washed” effect from musky, powdery and sometimes aldehydic building blocks. According to Fragrantica, the Extrait does without the sharp aldehydic brightness of many clean scents.
- Ambrette butter is a dense, waxy form of ambrette seed extract. It delivers a soft, plant-based musk effect that sits close to the skin.
- Myrrh is a resin that seeps from the bark of the myrrh tree. It brings a bittersweet, slightly balsamic warmth and was part of embalming in ancient Egypt.
