Labdanum Perfumes
Labdanum is the resin of the rockrose, a Mediterranean shrub, and smells warm, leathery and balsamic with a honey-like depth. It forms the heart of many amber accords and usually sits in the base. Here you will find every perfume with labdanum in its pyramid.

What is the difference between labdanum and amber?
Labdanum is a raw material, the resin of the rockrose. Amber is a composed accord – and labdanum, alongside benzoin and vanilla, is its classic heart.
How is labdanum obtained?
Today the rockrose’s twigs and leaves are boiled in water, the resin is skimmed off and processed into a resinoid or absolute. In the past, on Crete, a rake with leather straps – the ladanisterion – was drawn through the bushes.
Where does labdanum sit in a fragrance?
Mostly in the base – where a fragrance lasts longest. It gives depth and hold and pairs readily with patchouli, vanilla and woods. It is best to test on your own skin: with every bottle from 30 ml we include a 2 ml sample of the same fragrance.
