Myth. Tobacco absolute comes from dried leaves, not from smoke. It smells sweet, hay-like and of dried fruit. A smoky undertone is possible.

True. During curing – in the air, in the sun or with hot air – pigments in the leaf, the carotenoids, break down into aroma compounds. The result differs depending on the method.

Does tobacco in perfume smell of cigarette smoke?
No. Tobacco absolute is obtained from dried tobacco leaves, not from smoke. It smells sweet and hay-like, with hints of honey, dried fruit and old wood – more like a bundle of dried leaves than an ashtray.
How is tobacco absolute obtained?
The dried leaves are extracted with a solvent. This first produces a waxy concrete; alcohol is then used to remove the waxes, leaving the thick, dark absolute.
How long does tobacco last on the skin?
Tobacco is a typical base note and lasts a very long time. It carries a composition into the dry-down and gives it warmth and depth. The best test is on your own skin: with every bottle of 30 ml or more we include a 2 ml sample of the same fragrance.
