Noën: fair gold jewellery from Pforzheim – more than just jewellery
A ring that is beautiful is beautiful. A ring where you know which mine its gold came from is something else. That is the idea behind Noën.
• Noën is a jewellery manufacturer from Keltern near Pforzheim, founded in 2006 by Claudia and Malte Schindler.
• Gold and silver come from Fairmined-certified, traceable mines.
• Pieces are made in 18-carat gold, with natural diamonds and gemstones such as tourmaline, topaz or opal.
• At 4D OUTFITTERS you will find Noën in Bregenz and online.
Who is behind Noën
Claudia and Malte Schindler founded Noën in 2006 as a family business. Claudia brings a wealth of jewellery experience, Malte a background in product design. Design, production and quality control all happen under one roof, in their own workshop near Pforzheim, Germany's traditional gold town.
What drives them: jewellery that looks good not only on your finger but also in its supply chain. Gold and silver come from fully traceable, Fairmined-certified mines. These use far fewer toxic chemicals such as mercury and cyanide, and the mining communities receive fair prices and social premiums for education, health and infrastructure.

Stellini, Sparkle, Luz and Join
Our Noën range goes from delicate rings to statement pieces:
- Stellini – rings, earrings and necklaces starring a coloured gemstone: citrine, tourmaline, topaz, opal, moonstone or rutilated quartz.
- Sparkle – slender rings and earrings with sparkling diamonds.
- Luz – pink or green tourmaline, some combined with diamonds.
- Join – hoops, necklaces and rings in matt 18-carat gold, pure and made for every day.
All pieces are made of 18-carat gold and polished inside and out. Because Noën jewellery is built to last, there is a good chance you will pass it on one day. By the way, we explain how carat and a diamond's weight relate in our article Carat: the foundation of sparkle.
Curiosities about Noën
Things you probably didn't know
- A name like a promise
"Noën" is inspired by the Japanese first name Noemi. It stands for purity, clarity and beauty.
- First with the seal
In 2015 Noën became the first German jewellery brand to receive the Fairtrade seal. Today the workshop relies on Fairmined-certified gold.
- Award-winning
Noën won the German Sustainability Award 2026 in the companies category. The jury called the brand a beacon for ethical jewellery production.
- A turning point in South America
According to the founders, the trigger for their fair approach was the sight of an illegal gold-mining area in South America that had been contaminated with toxic waste after a dam burst.
- Grandfather's workshop
As a child, Claudia Schindler spent many hours in her grandfather's jewellery workshop, watching jewellery being made.
- Stones with a backstory
The tourmalines come from a family business in Brazil that has been eco-fair certified since 2003; the sapphires come from Sri Lanka under similar standards. For diamonds, Noën says it uses natural vintage stones that gemstone experts re-cut.
The Fairmined seal is run by the Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM), a non-profit based in Envigado, Colombia. It has been working with small-scale mining communities since 2004 – exactly where fair gold begins.
