Is real peach oil used in peach fragrances?
No. The flesh yields no usable fragrant oil. Perfumers recreate the peach scent from lactones such as γ-undecalactone and γ-decalactone.
Why is γ-undecalactone called “aldehyde C-14”?
The name is a historical misnomer from early supplier catalogues. Chemically, the molecule is a lactone, not an aldehyde, and it has eleven carbon atoms, not fourteen.
How does peach develop on the skin?
First comes a bright, juicy sweetness. Afterwards a creamy, slightly coconut-like warmth remains, because the lactones are long-lasting. The best test is on your own skin: with every bottle of 30 ml or more we include a 2 ml sample of the same fragrance.
