Is pink pepper a true pepper?
No. Black pepper comes from the climbing vine Piper nigrum. Pink pepper is the fruit of South American pepper trees of the genus Schinus, which belong to the cashew family – the same family as cashew and pistachio.
What does pink pepper smell like?
Bright, fresh and sparkling, with citrusy, slightly resinous and delicately rosy facets. It lacks the sharp bite of black pepper.
