The calendar says "the day after tomorrow", the gift list says "nothing sorted yet"? Welcome to the club of last-minute givers. The good news: a last-minute gift does not have to look like one. A gift card, a discovery set to collect in Bregenz or our fast standard shipping will save almost any deadline. Here is which route works when, and what the 4D Insider Club has to do with it.

What is the best last-minute gift when time is almost up?
A gift card, because it has no delivery route at all. You choose an amount between € 25 and € 1,000, it is sent digitally, and you can print it, fold it and hand it over in person. It can be redeemed online or in our boutique in Bregenz; it cannot be exchanged for cash.
"A gift card is so unimaginative," at least one person at the table will now say. Research disagrees, more on that in the curiosities below. The trick to keep it from looking like a stopgap: add something tangible. A 2 ml sample of your own favourite scent, a handwritten card naming three fragrances you think would suit the person, or a small discovery set. Then the gift card is not a way out but an invitation: "Pick your own scent, I have already pointed you in the right direction."

Which fragrance gifts work at the very last minute?
Discovery sets. They are the diplomatic solution if you only roughly know the person's taste: several fragrances in small sizes, the recipient tests them in peace on their own skin and finds their favourite themselves. Four examples currently in stock with us:
Our tip from the boutique: the Molecule set is ideal for people who "don't really like perfume", because for many the Molecule fragrances feel more like an extension of their own skin. What is the 4D Insider Club and how does it help when giving gifts?
The 4D Insider Club is our loyalty programme. You collect stars and later exchange them for benefits. For every euro you spend you receive 10 stars, so a purchase of € 300 brings 3,000 stars. That applies to gifts too: you give someone a present and collect for your own next purchase at the same time.
There are also stars without any purchase:
- 1,000 stars when you create a customer account,
- 7,000 stars on your birthday,
- 500 stars each for following us on Instagram or TikTok or subscribing to our YouTube channel,
- 10,000 stars when you recommend someone, and the same 10,000 stars for the person you recommended.
The last point is the real last-minute gift that costs nothing: a recommendation brings stars to both of you. 3,000 stars, for example, are enough for free standard shipping. Two honest notes: redeemed reward codes are valid for 30 days, and stars can expire. So if you have collected stars, redeem them in good time before they quietly say goodbye.
Curiosities about giving gifts
For everyone who wants to join the conversation at the festive table
- Gift cards are more popular than givers think
In 2011, Francesca Gino and Francis Flynn showed in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology that recipients appreciate items from their wish list more than surprises, while givers believe the opposite. In one of the studies, recipients even appreciated money more than givers expected.
- The gift that destroys value
In 1993 the economist Joel Waldfogel estimated in the American Economic Review that, on average, gifts are worth between a tenth and a third less to recipients than they cost. A gift card with a sample added sidesteps exactly this problem.
- Wrapping paper is an emergency product
In 1917 the Hall brothers, later known for Hallmark, ran out of coloured tissue paper in their shop. Instead they sold decorative French envelope lining paper, and it sold so well that from 1918 they printed their own wrapping paper. So modern gift wrap, too, is a last-minute idea.
- Why German-speaking countries give gifts on the 24th rather than the 6th of December
Around 1535, Martin Luther promoted the "Holy Christ" as gift-bringer instead of St. Nicholas and, in all likelihood, moved the giving of presents to Christmas. The Christkind itself, however, was already known as a gift-bringer before that.

With every bottle of 30 ml or more we include a 2 ml sample of the same fragrance; from an order value of € 90, four more 2 ml samples of your choice, subject to availability (note your preferred scents in the order comment).
